Rights & Prosperity international public organization has conducted an express survey, the goal of which was to study current level of perception of and tolerance to corruption in communities.
Meeting with participants of training sessions on “Public governance”, heads of mahalla committees and active rural citizens was conducted on March 16 this year.
Educational training on “Public governance” was conducted on March 10-12 this year in Rudaki region.
On February 16-19, 2010, Rights & Prosperity International Public Organization has conducted two two-day training sessions in the frameworks of the “Department on Children’s Rights – effective instrument for protection of children’s rights” project.
The session has brought together senior officials of the region and representatives of regional branch offices of ministries, heads of jamoats, active villagers, representatives of local public and religious organizations, commercial sector and international organizations, including “Rights & Prosperity” International Public Organization.
New “Public Chamber” opened in Muminobod region in November 2009.
From January 19 to January 21, 2010, Zainabobod jamoat of Rudaki region hosted an educational training on “Public governance”, which was conducted in the frameworks of the second phase of the “Power to the people.
On December 9 this year the United Nations Development Programme in Tajikistan together with the Tajik State Finance Control and Counter Corruption Agency has conducted a conference “The fight against corruption and promotion of respectability – the foundations of promotion of economic and social development of the Republic of Tajikistan”. The conference was timed to the International Anti-Corruption Day.
The annual conference dedicated to the International Human Rights Day: “On the way to integrated system of promotion and protection of human rights in Tajikistan” will take place in the conference hall of the Kohi Vakhdat complex in central Dushanbe on December 10, 2009. The event is organized by the UNDP within the frameworks of the “State Enhancement for the Improved Governance” project in close cooperation with the National Human Rights Institute and a series of other international partner organizations.
An educational training “Social and public governance” took place on December 10-12 this year in Shakhraki Somonien Jamoat of Rudaki region. The event was conducted within the frameworks of the second phase of the “Power to the people. Governance for the welfare of vulnerable groups of population” project funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) the goal of which is "to promote sustainable development and eliminate world poverty".
On December 1, 2009, the Rights & Prosperity international public organization launched a new project on “Raising level of anti-corruption consciousness in rural areas”. The project is funded by Act Central Asia.

Starting today representatives of the 141 countries that have signed up to the are arriving in Doha to decide whether to adopt a review mechanism that would give the treaty teeth.
Over 1,000 delegates from 125 countries are meeting this week in Doha, Qatar to review implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. The delegates represent countries that have signed the United Nations anti-corruption treaty. This is the Third Session of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption which came into force in December 2005.
On November 5, 2009, Dushanbe hosted a Central-Asian social fair of self-help groups – members of the Ishenim network. The Ishenim Central Asian network was founded in 1998 by a number of non-governmental organizations from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, which use SHG (self-help group) method in their activity, and with institutional support from Act CA office. The network was established with the goal to share experience and lessons learnt in the field of development of self-help groups in Central Asia.
On October 2, 2009, the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted a regular meeting of the working group for improvement of licensing regimes and permissions.
The goal of the event was to demonstrate the prospects of youth movements in the Republic of Tajikistan, show challenges they face today, legislative basis and elaborate recommendations for improvement of this type of activity. Public organizations dealing with protection of children’s rights and promotion of interests of vulnerable and marginalized children and operating in Temurmalik, Vose, Vakhsh, J.Rumi regions, representatives of local media and senior officials and students of boarding schools have attended the workshop.
Consultative meeting of partner organizations of the Rights & Prosperity and ASDP Nau international public organizations took place on September 22.
On September 17 representatives of public organizations of Tajikistan met with Mr.Sungurov, president of the St. Petersburg Center STRATEGY. The meeting was initiated by UNDP.
On 26 August, 2009, Rights & Prosperity international public organization hosted a meeting of Act CA partner organizations where the prospects of establishment of public chambers and initiation of arbitrages in target regions were discussed. The meeting was conducted in the frameworks of the DFID-led “Stimulation of development of civil society to support marginal and vulnerable population” project.
Ismonov Abdullo chairs the mahalla committee in Chorsu village of Muminobod region. He has a large professional and social experience.
On 20 August the international public organization Rights & Prosperity took part in a workshop hosted by local authorities of Khatlon District. The overall goal of the event was to evaluate the process of rehabilitation of local Departments on the rights of the child in Khatlon area. Chairmen of the Commission on the Rights of the Child Gafurova Mairambi said that according to the decision by the head of the district, new departments were set up in the area to deal with children’s rights. Each department consists of 4 officers – head of the department, senior specialist, leading specialist and specialist.
Workshop to the theme “Development strategy of the Local Public Organization ASDP Nau for 2012” took place on 16-17 July in Khujand.
From August 3 through August 5 representatives of mobilized self-help groups from “Shakhrak” and “Boggai” jamoats, representatives of local government, deputies, representatives of local organizations, local authorities and the media have attended a series of working meetings where the formation of Public Chamber in Muminobod region has been discussed.
Government officials directly involved in work with public complaints, leaders of CBOs and mahallas as well as representatives of the media have attended the training course.
A regular 19th session of the Coordinating Council of Business Associations and Public Organizations of Tajikistan (CCBAPOT) took place on 30th of July 2009. The Council has approved a new Memorandum and Code of the CCBAPOT. Session participants have also elected new members to the Governing Board and the CCBAPOT Bureau.
The first civil society workshop EU –
On 17th of July 2009 the International Labor Organization and the Association of Employers of Tajikistan have organized a seminar on the “Role of association of employers in the conditions of global financial crisis”.
The law regulates public relations linked with the organization, authorities and activity of local self-governance bodies in villages and settlements and defines legal, economic and financial foundations for their activity.
On June 18th the first ever Ombudsman for Tajikistan Zarif Alizoda met with representatives of more than 30 public organizations in Dushanbe.
During the period from June 10th through June 12th the international public organization “Rights & Prosperity” has conducted an educational training on the “Foundations of public and governmental governance” in Shahrak jamoat of Muminobod region of Khatlon District.
The establishment of the national Ombudsman Institute is another achievement in the field of human rights and freedoms protection and promotion. According to the President’s Decree of May 27th, 2009, Zarif Alizoda was appointed Ombudsman for Tajikistan.
Three-day training courses on “improvement of educational and practical legal potential of workers of governmental social institutions for orphans” were conducted in Vakhsh, Jaloliddin Rumi, Vose and Temurmalik regions in April and May this year.
In late April 2009 youth self-help groups from orphanages of Vakhsh and Jalolidin Rumi regions have designed informational corners for their orphanages.

In the frameworks of social partnership of right defending organizations, working in the field of protection of children’s rights, the International Public Organization “Rights & Prosperity” has conducted a training on the “Rights of the child and creative methods of distribution of information”.
In early April the international public organization “Rights & Prosperity” has provided humanitarian assistance in the form of essential foodstuffs (flour, potato, onion, dried milk, oil, tea, rice and peas) and kitchen appliances.
In March and April most active inmates from orphanages of Vakhsh, Vose, Jaloliddin Rumi and Temurmalik regions, who participated in educational training courses, were trained to conduct legal lessons based on the “peer-to-peer” principle.
