Land reform programme
The “Rights & Prosperity” organization deals with land reform sphere since 1998. The “Rights & Prosperity” considers land reform promotion in Tajikistan in three aspects:
- Law observance by land legal relationship participants.
- Improvement of the legislation and effective observance of the existing legislation.
- Participation of governmental and public institutions in land reform implementation.
- Gender aspect of land reform
At the initial stage of land reform implementation, during the process of reorganization of collective and state farms, the “Rights & Prosperity” has conducted a dekhkan farms establishment, development and protection support programme, which was supported by international organizations and local government. Legal assistance was provided to those who wanted to establish a dekhkan farm.
The next step is to implement the “Improvement of legal awareness and literacy of dekhkan farmers” programme.
The following strategies were selected for the aforementioned step: education, legal awareness, influence on government officials, legal consulting, including defense in courts.
Main spheres which impede land reform promotion were uncovered in the course of the programme:
