Entrepreneurship development
Small and medium business development, especially development of entrepreneurship in rural areas, is one of priority activities of the “Rights & Prosperity” organization since it is impossible to achieve stable economic growth, increase the number of workplaces or reduce poverty level without small and medium business development.
Overall goals of the given programme are:
- Improvement of legislation
- Establishment of mechanisms of effective administration of legislation
- Improvement of legal awareness of entrepreneurs and government officials
- Development of business skills of citizens, especially women, in rural areas
- Use of strategic legal procedures as an instrument for promotion of observance of rights of entrepreneurs
“Strengthening of women’s participation in commercial activity (income generating activity) in agriculture” project has become the first step of the programme.
The project covered less developed mountainous regions of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The priority task of the project was to raise involvement of women in agricultural regions into commercial activity. The analysis conducted by the “Rights & Prosperity” showed that only 1% of women become leaders of dekhkan farms in these regions. Women involved in agricultural activity lack required working environment and lack agricultural business skills, marketing skills and other related skills; their have limited access to any information due to separate location of their regions. Moreover, local authorities do not contribute to establishment of favorable conditions for the development of most vulnerable groups of population in mountainous regions – namely women.
