Ombudsman
The establishment of the Ombudsman Institution is considered to be another achievement in promotion and protection of human rights and freedoms in Tajikistan. It’s worth reminding that according to the Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon’s decree dated May 27, 2009, Zarif Alizoda was appointed the ombudsperson for Tajikistan.
There is a number of public organizations currently operating in Tajikistan seeking to promote human rights and freedoms, improve legislation, adjust it in accordance with international standards on human rights and conduct various events aimed at distribution of legal information on human rights.
It should be mentioned that civil society organizations, which operate in our country, gained huge experience over the past few years and successfully cooperate with governmental structures and institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Therefore, representatives of public organizations of Tajikistan called the Ombudsperson to hold a joint meeting to discuss the following issues:
1. Public organizations in Tajikistan: principal directions of activity, opportunities and resources;
2. Principle directions of activity of the Ombudsman in Tajikistan;
3. Discussion of spheres of cooperation between public organizations and the Ombudsman Institution;
4. Organizational issues of cooperation.
The meeting is preliminary scheduled for 18th or 20th of June. The final date and place of the meeting will be informed to all public organizations of the republic via the TajikNGOportal and other sources of information in advance..
