Educational Programme in Rudaki Region
An educational training “Social and public governance” took place on December 10-12 this year in Shakhraki Somonien Jamoat of Rudaki region. The event was conducted within the frameworks of the second phase of the “Power to the people. Governance for the welfare of vulnerable groups of population” project funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) the goal of which is "to promote sustainable development and eliminate world poverty".
The overall goal of the training is to increase level of knowledge of citizens on their rights and legal interests, develop their capacity to influence the policy of governmental structures and raise the participants’ potential to initiate and establish the Public Chamber in Rudaki region. The Public Chamber will consist of local officials and activists of the region.
16 people, 50% of which were women, have attended the event. The participants have considered the following sessions:
• The nature of the state;
• Governmental services;
• Government officials;
• The structure of governmental bodies in the Republic of Tajikistan;
• Human rights mechanism;
• Transparency and accountability;
• Advocacy and lobbying;
• Human rights institutes;
• The Ombudsman Institute in Tajikistan in the mechanism of promotion of the constitutional rights of citizens;
Two trainings will be conducted in Shakhraki Somonien Jamoat of Rudaki region in December this year. The trainings will bring together representatives of civil society and local officials.
