International Anti-Corruption Day

On December 9 this year the United Nations Development Programme in Tajikistan together with the Tajik State Finance Control and Counter Corruption Agency has conducted a conference “The fight against corruption and promotion of respectability – the foundations of promotion of economic and social development of the Republic of Tajikistan”. The conference was timed to the International Anti-Corruption Day.

The goal of the conference was to discuss the achieved results in the counter-corruption activity in Tajikistan and consider further steps on strengthening and improvement of counter-corruption efforts.

The conference was attended by representatives of the Tajik State Finance Control and Counter Corruption Agency and representatives of international and public organizations.

Conference participants have discussed key directions and priorities of the cunter-corruption activity, talked about the Counter-Corruption Strategy for 2008-2012, considered international legal counter-corruption standards, discussed the impact of corruption on the volume of international investments, the corruption risks management system taking border protection sector as an example, the Ethics Code for the governmental sector as an instrument to fight corruption and discussed the role of civil society in the fight against corruption.
