Appeal of public organizations to the Ombudsman
The establishment of the national Ombudsman Institute is another achievement in the field of human rights and freedoms protection and promotion. According to the President’s Decree of May 27th, 2009, Zarif Alizoda was appointed Ombudsman for Tajikistan.
Currently, there is a number of public organizations operating in Tajikistan in the field of protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms, improvement of legislation, bringing it in correspondence with international human rights standards and conduction of various events on distribution of legal information on human rights.
It should be noted that public organizations have gained a wide experience and successfully cooperate with governmental structures and institutions in Tajikistan. Bearing this in mind, representatives of public organizations of Tajikistan suggested the Ombudsman to conduct a joint meeting to discuss the following issues:
1. Public organizations in Tajikistan: main directions of activity, opportunities and resources;
2. Main directions of activity of the Ombudsman in Tajikistan;
3. Discussion of spheres of cooperation between public organizations and the Ombudsman Institute;
4. Organizational issues of cooperation.
Preliminary date of the meeting was fixed for 18th or 20th of June. The exact date and venue will be announced to all public organizations of the republic through TajikNGO portal and other channels.
