Consultative meeting of Rights & Prosperity and ASDP Nau partners

The goal of the meeting was to discuss the legislation, which regulates legal relationships in the field of local self-governance. In particular, the participants have discussed the Law of Tajikistan “On public organizations” and “On local self-governing bodies in villages and settlements”. Representatives of the Rights & Prosperity NGO, ASDP Nau, head of Gulyakandoz Jamoat of Jabor Rasul region of Sughd District have attended the meeting. It has been noted that the new legislation expands the authorities of local self-governing bodies, contributes to active involvement of the population into self-governing process and resolution of local problems. Jamoats are authorized to form their budgets, draw up and implement local socio-economic development plans, establish business structures and accumulate funds within jamoats. The participants called the adoption of these laws a significant progress for local self-government in Tajikistan even without additional sub-legislative normative acts.
