Power to the people, governance for the welfare of vulnerable groups of population
Educational training on “Public governance” was conducted on March 10-12 this year in Rudaki region.
This training was conducted in the frameworks of the “Power to the people. Governance for the welfare of vulnerable groups of population” project funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom that manages Britain's aid to poor countries and works to get rid of extreme poverty.
The goal of this training course is to improve knowledge of people about their rights and legal interests, develop their capacity to influence the policy of state bodies and increase their potential for possible initiation and establishment of Public Chamber in Rudaki region. It is planned that Public Chamber will consist of representatives of local authorities and active citizens of the region.
16 people took part in this training. Training participants have considered the following sessions:
• Essence of the state;
• State services;
• Public servants;
• Structure of state bodies in the Republic of Tajikistan;
• Mechanisms for ensuring citizens’ rights;
• Transparency and accountability;
• Advocacy and lobbying;
• Institutes that ensure protection of citizens’ rights;
• Ombudsman Institute in Tajikistan in mechanism for ensuring constitutional rights of citizens;
